Govt.Hr.Sec.School, Aalo is one of the oldest in the state of Arunachal Pradesh and premier institution of West Siang District, located in the district, headquarter, Aalo. The school compound has vast area about 1,07,300.50 sqmtrs with RCC boundary wall. The school was established in the year 1948, upgraded to Middle School in the year 1952 to Secondary level in the year 1956 and finally upgraded to Higher Secondary level in the year 1966. The school is a co-educational and consisting of class 9 to 12. The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE ) New Delhi with Affiliation No 2220006 and school no 37050. Since then, institution has been producing numerous luminaries serving in different capacities in the state and the nation.
The school is running with Humanity, Science and Commerce streams and other facilities like Scout & Guide, NCC and NSS Programmes. This school has also hostel facilities for boys and girls for feeder schools. The school has big Assembly hall, internet facility, safe drinking water point, separate toilets for staff, and students. Apart from formal education, non formal education like NIOS Study centre with A.I. No 240006 is functioning throughout the year.
The enrollment of the students has been fluctuating over the years with highest enrollment was in the session 2009-2010 with a total of 1794 students though in the present session 2021-2022 is down to 778.
